OUR HISTORY

Built on Decades of Real-World Experience

In 1985, a company called Incident Prevention Specialists was started with the sole purpose of properly training nightclub personnel in all facets of the nightclub security business. From ID checking, crowd control, the drunk and disorderly, to LEO involvement. This soon ventured into running stage security and crowd control. Eventually, IPS moved into the Executive Protection and Estate Security field.

In 2020, the company was re-branded to 3 Delta LLC, doing business as 3 Delta Defense. 3 Delta Defense offers a wide variety of customizable classes and trainings with the intention to properly and thoroughly teach people to avoid true violence and survive it.

3 Delta Defense also incorporates firearms training, including the Utah State Concealed Carry course, Women's firearm and self defense training, and its unique Crisis Awareness, Avoidance, Prevention, and Survival classes. 3 Delta Defense is not a Martial Arts or MMA school. We teach real world solutions to old school violence. Shorter learning curves and greater success!

Our instructors don't just teach theory. Every lesson is forged from decades of real-world security, protection, and survival experience.

Patrick Neelans

Instructor

Patrick started his journey into the security world at 17 years old when he started working nightclubs in California, and also teaching self defense and martial arts as well. During this time, he also started running a team of guys that worked some of the local concert scenes throughout California. Patrick became a "Cooler" at many clubs from Sacramento to Orange County.

In 1991, Patrick suffered a tragic loss, when his mother was kidnapped and murdered in Moreno Valley. It was then he decided not to allow this to happen to anyone else, so he became trained in Executive Protection. Patrick worked in this field for many years running the security for celebrities, private individuals and dignitaries as well.

Patrick realized that he was pretty good at protecting one person or a family, but could not reach as many people as he would like, so he went back to his roots and started teaching people to survive real world violence. In 2022, Patrick became certified to teach under the USCCA curriculum and brought his knowledge of firearms and weaponry to the classroom as well.

Eldon Cox

Instructor

Eldon started his journey in 2006, and spent over 10 years in Law Enforcement working with both Davis County and Utah County Sheriff's departments. During his time in Law Enforcement, Eldon not only learned extensive defensive tactics and self-defense skills, but also earned very high marks in weapons and tactics.

Eldon also went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Criminal Justice from Weber State University, with a minor in foreign language, becoming fluent in Spanish. Eldon's expertise in Law Enforcement has allowed him to give valuable insight into the legal and real world of self-defense.
